👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Free for Everyone in the Family

Stuffolio is free to download. There's no app to buy and no purchase to pass around — each family member simply installs it on their own devices, at no cost.

🔒

Private by Default

Each family member has their own inventory. Your items, warranties, and notes are visible only to you — until you choose to share.

📱

Free on Every Device

Everyone installs their own free copy of Stuffolio with their own iCloud storage. Nothing to buy, nothing to configure.

🤝

Share When You Choose

Sharing is always explicit and intentional — through a shared Household or Legacy Wishes, when you're ready.

✨

Full Features

Every family member gets complete inventory management, warranty tracking, and Legacy Wishes — all free.

🏠 Household Sharing NEW

Create a shared household and choose one inventory to share with your family. Shared items sync through iCloud, so household members can view and manage them together.

How it works: One person creates a household and shares a link with the family. You choose which inventory to share, and its items sync to household members through iCloud. Anything in your other inventories stays yours.

Setting Up a Household

  1. Go to Settings → Data → Family Sharing
  2. Tap Create Household (or Start Sharing)
  3. Choose whether members can view only, or view and edit. This applies to everyone in the household.
  4. Tap Send Invitation Link and send the link however you like — Messages, Mail, AirDrop. Stuffolio doesn't email anyone on your behalf; you decide who gets the link.

Joining a Household

  1. Someone in the household sends you a link — by text, email, or AirDrop, whichever they prefer
  2. Open the link and accept the share when your device asks
  3. The household's shared items sync to your device through iCloud, alongside your own inventory
🔄

Keeps Everyone Current

Add an item on your phone and it turns up on your spouse's iPad, usually within seconds and always by the time they next open the app.

👤

Owner Attribution

Each item can say whose it is — yours, someone else's, or the household's — and records who last changed it and when. You set the owner; Stuffolio doesn't guess.

⚡

Offline Support

Make changes while offline. They sync automatically when you're back online — no data loss.

🔀

Conflict Resolution

If two people edit the same item simultaneously, you can choose which version to keep or merge changes.

Permission Levels

One setting covers the whole household: everyone can either view, or view and edit. You pick which when you set it up, and you can change it later.

Role Can View Can Edit Can Delete Can Manage the Household
View only ✓ — — —
View & edit ✓ ✓ Own items only* —
You (the owner) ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓

*Members with edit access can delete items they added themselves, but not items someone else added — which keeps one person from clearing out another's records by accident. Only you, as the person who created the household, can delete anyone's item or change who's in it.

What Gets Shared

There's no per-item switch to remember, and that's deliberate. You pick one inventory to share with the household, and everything in it is shared — anything you add to it later included, without you having to do anything. Items in your other inventories aren't part of the household and don't sync to it.

So the way to keep something to yourself is to keep it in an inventory you haven't shared. If you want a private stash alongside a household one, make a second inventory from Dashboard → Manage → New Inventory and put it there.

Great For

  • Household appliances — Everyone tracks the fridge, washer, and HVAC warranties
  • Shared vehicles — Both drivers see maintenance history and warranty status
  • Home electronics — Share the TV, sound system, and gaming console info
  • Tools and equipment — Keep the whole family informed about shared resources
  • Furniture — Track warranties on the couch, dining table, and mattresses together

Privacy Note: Privacy here works by inventory, not by item. Everything in the inventory you've shared is visible to the household — there's no per-item exception, so don't put something in there expecting it to stay private. Keep anything personal in a separate inventory, which the household never sees.

💝 Legacy Wishes UPDATED

Plan what happens to your meaningful belongings. Reduce confusion and stress for the people you love.

What is Legacy Wishes? A thoughtful way to record who should receive your treasured items — your grandmother's ring, your vintage guitar, the family photo albums. It's not a legal document, it's a conversation starter.

Why It Matters

When someone passes, families face difficult decisions during an already stressful time. "Did Mom want me to have this?" "I think Dad said he wanted you to have the tools." Without clear intentions, these moments can create conflict and regret.

Legacy Wishes doesn't replace a will. It answers the smaller, personal questions that wills rarely cover: Who gets the mixing bowl you used every Sunday? The books that shaped your thinking? The tools you maintained for decades?

How It Works

👤

Add Beneficiaries

Create a list of people who might receive your belongings — family members, friends, charities, or organizations.

🏷️

Assign Items

Choose which items go to which people. Add notes about why an item is meaningful or special instructions.

🔄

Contingency Recipients NEW

Set a line of succession — if the primary recipient declines, specify who should receive the item next.

📤

Share Your Wishes

When you're ready, share your Legacy Wishes with family through secure CloudKit collaboration, so updates reach them as you make them.

✏️

Update Anytime

Life changes. Your wishes can too. Add, remove, or reassign items whenever you want.

📄

Export as PDF

Generate a formatted PDF document to print, email, or store with important papers.

Important: Legacy Wishes are not legal instructions — they are personal intentions meant to reduce confusion and stress. For legal arrangements, please consult an attorney.

Receiving Shared Wishes

When someone shares their Legacy Wishes with you, here's what happens:

  1. You receive an iCloud share link via Messages, Mail, or another method
  2. Tap the link on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac
  3. Stuffolio opens (or you're prompted to download it from the App Store)
  4. Accept the share invitation
  5. View the shared wishes anytime in Legacy Wishes → Shared with Me

What Recipients See

👀

View-Only Access

See all wishes and assignments clearly labeled as "View Only" — you cannot make changes to someone else's wishes.

👥

All Recipients

See who else is designated to receive items, their relationships, and how many items each person is assigned.

📦

Item Assignments

View each item, who it's designated to, contingency recipients if declined, fallback disposition (donate, sell, etc.), and any personal notes.

🔄

Stays Current

When the owner updates their wishes, the changes come through to your device on their own — nothing to refresh or re-download.

📴

Offline Access NEW

View shared wishes even when offline. Changes sync automatically when you're back online.

👤

Owner Attribution

See who shared the wishes with you and when they last made updates.

Family Input & Collaboration NEW

If the owner enables View & Input permission, you can indicate your preferences:

  • "I'd like this" — Express interest in an item
  • "No preference" — You're neutral
  • "I don't need this" — Decline interest (helps identify items for the contingency recipient)

Your input helps the owner make informed decisions. They see all family preferences and can identify conflicts (when multiple people want the same item). Conflict detection highlights items where more than one family member has expressed interest — helping start conversations before they become disagreements. The owner always makes final decisions.

How Conflict Detection Works: When two or more family members express interest in the same item, Stuffolio flags it for the owner. They can see who's interested, review each person's notes, and make an informed decision — or use it as a starting point for a family conversation.

Assigning Legacy Wishes

You can assign items to beneficiaries in two ways:

  • From Legacy Wishes hub — Browse all your items and assign recipients
  • From Edit Item view — Scroll to the Legacy Wishes section while editing any item and assign directly

Frequently Asked Questions

How does sharing Stuffolio with my family work?

Simply: everyone downloads it. Stuffolio is free, so each family member installs it from the App Store at no cost — there's no purchase to share. Everyone starts with their own private inventory, and a shared Household pools whichever inventory you choose to share.

How do I create a household?

Go to Settings → Data → Family Sharing and tap Create Household. Enter the email addresses of family members you want to invite, choose their permission level (Viewer, Editor, or Admin), and send the invitation.

How do I share an item with my household?

You don't share items one at a time. You choose an inventory to share, and everything in it goes to the household — including anything you add later. If you want something kept out, keep it in a different inventory.

What's the difference between a private inventory and Household Sharing?

By default, each family member's inventory is private — your items, warranties, and notes are visible only to you. Household Sharing lets you nominate one inventory that everyone in the household can see, and it syncs across their devices. Anything in your other inventories stays private. The app is free for everyone, so anyone you invite can join at no cost.

What happens if two people edit the same item at once?

Stuffolio detects conflicts and shows you both versions. You can choose to keep one version, the other, or merge the changes together. No data is lost.

Can I see who added or modified an item?

Yes. Each item can be marked as belonging to a particular person or to the household, and it records who last changed it and when. The owner is something you set on the item rather than something Stuffolio infers.

What happens if I'm offline?

You can still view and edit shared items while offline. Changes queue up automatically and sync when you're back online. If there's a conflict with someone else's changes, you'll be prompted to resolve it.

Will my family see my inventory?

Not by default. Nothing is shared until you create or join a household and choose an inventory to share, and Legacy Wishes is a separate decision of its own. Both are things you opt into.

How do I share my Legacy Wishes with family?

In Stuffolio, go to Legacy Wishes and tap "Share with Family." This creates a secure iCloud share that you control. You can stop sharing at any time.

What happens when I receive a Legacy Wishes share link?

Tap the iCloud link on your device. If you have Stuffolio installed, it opens automatically and prompts you to accept the share. If not, you'll be directed to download it first. Once accepted, you can view the shared wishes anytime in Legacy Wishes → Shared with Me.

Can I edit someone else's Legacy Wishes?

No. Shared Legacy Wishes are always view-only. You can see all the information, but only the owner can make changes. If they enable "View & Input" permission, you can indicate your preferences on items, but you cannot modify assignments.

Do I need Stuffolio installed to view shared wishes?

Yes. When you tap a share link, you'll be prompted to download Stuffolio from the App Store if you don't have it. The app is free, so anyone you share with can install it at no cost.

Is Legacy Wishes a legal document?

No. Legacy Wishes are not legal instructions — they are personal intentions meant to reduce confusion and stress. They help start conversations and reduce uncertainty. For legal arrangements, please consult an attorney.

What are contingency recipients?

Contingency recipients are your "plan B" — a line of succession for each item. If your first choice declines or can't accept it, the next name down is who you'd have wanted, written down where your family can see it. Nothing reassigns itself; Stuffolio records the order so the decision doesn't fall to whoever is in the room.

What happens when multiple family members want the same item?

Stuffolio's conflict detection highlights items where more than one person has expressed interest. As the owner, you see all preferences and can make an informed decision — or use it to start a family conversation. The owner always makes the final decision.

Can I export my Legacy Wishes?

Yes. You can generate a formatted PDF document showing all your beneficiaries, item assignments, contingency recipients, and notes. Print it, email it, or store it with other important papers.

Are AI subscriptions shared with family?

No. The AI subscription is per-person and can't be shared through Apple Family Sharing — each family member who wants AI features subscribes separately, since each person's use carries its own server costs. The app itself — inventory, warranties, Legacy Wishes — is free for everyone, and items can be shared through a Household. AI runs only when you ask; nothing is analyzed in the background.

What if I don't subscribe to AI assistance?

Then nothing changes — the full app (inventory management, warranty tracking, Legacy Wishes) works completely without it. AI assistance helps with smart categorization, value estimates, and maintenance tips when you want it, and stays out of the way when you don't.

Can I change my Legacy Wishes later?

Absolutely. Life changes, and your wishes can too. You can add, remove, or reassign items to different people at any time. Sharing updates automatically when you make changes.
